CEO of Russian Bank Believes Digital Assets Should Not be Banned

Herman Gref, who is CEO of Sberbank, feels strongly about cryptocurrencies. He believes that they should not be banned in Russia. The Russian government has had a hostile viewpoint on digital assets. Gref has urged local governments to give cryptocurrencies a chance, even if that means regulation. He also would like for the government to really understand the idea of digital assets and how it can be of major help to economies. Last year, Russia had a ban on Bitcoin and even jailed people up to 7 years for trading the digital asset. Gref’s bank, Sberbank, has opened a blockchain lab. The lab is a member of one of the two biggest blockcain labs in the world. One is Ethereum Enterprise Alliance and the other is Hyperledger Project.
